When the barbaric Italian style invaded the delicate French aesthetic, two musical worlds collided. This concert will explore the results of that confrontation in works by Handel, Dieupart, Leclair and others.

As the madrigal flourished in the 16th century, musicians went far beyond
the written notes to ornament the simple songs. We will perform madrigals by de Rore and Willaert, as well as our own free improvisations.
Variety, the Spice of Life
Sunday, February 11th at 3 pm
The composition of variations grew out of the practice of ornamentation.
This solo harpsichord recital will feature two contrasting works: Handel's Harmonious Blacksmith Variations and Bach's Goldberg Variations.
Beg, Borrow and Steal
Sunday, May 13th at 3 pm
with Ah Hong, soprano
and baroque chamber orchestra
To bring our season to a close, we will perform our own orchestral
arrangement of a Dieupart harpsichord suite from our first concert, as
well as concerti and cantats composed and arranged by Handel and Bach.
