Michael Zell's broad skills as a percussionist include solo percussion, timpani, chamber music, orchestral percussion, and theatrical percussion. Presently, Michael serves as Principal Timpanist of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, a position he won during the senior year of his undergraduate studies. As a freelance percussionist, Michael is active throughout Maryland, having performed with the Maryland Symphony and the Baltimore Sinfonietta, and also has extensive private teaching engagements. Michael performs regularly throughout the east coast with flutist Kristin Bacchiocchi-Stewart, and also collaborates frequently with percussionist Ji Hye Jung, winner of the 2006 International Marimba Competition in Linz.

Michael earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from the Peabody Conservatory where he was a student of Robert van Sice. He has also completed private studies with Tom Freer (Principal Timpanist, LA Philharmonic) and Chris Lamb (Principal Percussion, NY Philharmonic). Michael has participated in summer festivals in Aspen, where he received the Charles Owen Memorial Scholarship, and Norfolk, Connecticut as part of the Yale School of Music Summer Program

Kristin Bacchiocchi-Stewart is currently pursuing her DMA in Flute Performance at The Peabody Conservatory of Music. She is a Faculty Associate at Peabody and the Flute Professor at Frostburg State University where she also teaches woodwind methods classes and directs the flute ensemble. Before moving to Baltimore, Ms. Bacchiocchi-Stewart taught flute, music history and music fundamentals classes for four years at Schenectady County Community College. She was a prize winner at the 2002 National Flute Associations Young Artist Competition, a winner of the 2000 NFA Masterclass Performers Competition, a participant in the First Beijing Nicolet International Flute Competition and has appeared as a semi-finalist in the Myrna Brown and Ducrest Young Artist Competitions.

An active performer of contemporary music, Ms. Bacchiocchi-Stewart is also a dedicated chamber musician. She has been a member of TRITONIS (flute, cello, and guitar) since 2001, when they premiered Concerto Grosso by Robert Delfausse with the Lake Placid Sinfonietta. She tours regularly with guitarist Joel Brown (Bacchiocchi-Brown Duo) and also with percussionist Michael Zell. She has performed with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Catskill Symphony, and The Albany Pro Musica. She recently played a chamber music concert at the Minato Mirai concert hall in Yokohama, Japan. Ms. Bacchiocchi- Stewarts academic achievements include a M.M. from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a B.M. from Ithaca College. She has participated in the Aspen Music Festival, the Colorado College Music Festival, and the Zurich 2000 Masterclass series.
