ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Brazilian-born pianist Sonia Goulart has been awarded more than thirty international prizes, including the 1st Television Award in Frankfurt (Germany), the Rencontres Musicales Internationales Award in Brussels (Belgium), and the International Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Bolzano (Italy).

While residing in Europe for over eight years, she studied with Bruno Seidlhofer, Karl Engel and Stefan Askenase. She also took courses with Carlo Zecchi at the Salzburg Mozarteum, where she was awarded the Summer Course Best Pianist Prize and with Jacob Sak at Weimar Franz Liszt Hochschule.

Ms. Goulart garnered great success appearing as soloist with leading European orchestras in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, England, Italy and Switzerland where she has performed with famous conductors, such as Alexander Rumpf, Bernard Conz, Carlo Bagnoli, Felix Prohaska, Humbert Reichert, Michael Spierman, Niclas Aeschbacher, Simon Blech and Stephan Gunzenhauser, among others.

Ms. Goulart received her Doctorate from the Staatlich Hochschule in Hannover, Ger¬many. Since 1986, she has been a professor at the School of Music of the Rio de Janeiro Federal University in Brazil.

Ms. Goulart has recorded with several European radio stations, such as the Radio Suisse Ro¬mande (Lausanne), Radio Televisione Italiana (Bolzano), Radiodiffusion Television Francaise (Paris), Radiodiffusion Television Beige (Brussels), Sender Freies Berlin, Hessicher Rundfunk (Frankfurt), Norddeutscher Rundfunk (Hamburg and Hannover), Bayerischer Rundfunk (Munich) and Südwestrundfunk (Stuttgart), where she is invited periodically for re¬cording.
