2007 Winner Hilton Head International Piano Competition

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Eric Zuber is currently 21 years old and a native of Baltimore, MD. His piano instruction began at four. At six years of age he was accepted with a full scholarship to Peabodys pre-college division. There he won numerous prizes, including the concerto competition at age 11, and again at 13. At 16 years of age, Eric was given a full scholarship to study at the Peabody Conservatory.
As a competition winner, Eric is gaining national acclaim. In the summer of 2006, he was the first-prize recipient in the International Young Artists Piano Competition of Washington, D.C. He also received the special award for the commissioned work in that competition. The same month, he won the silver medal at the California International Young Artists Piano Competition. Eric has swept all three top prizes at the Chiang Wen Yeh International Piano Competition. He has won the Aspen Concerto Competition, first prize at the Wonderlic Competition, and first prize at the Yale Gordon competition.
Eric has traveled the nation as a soloist, performing with symphonies such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, South Bend Symphony, Aspen Concert Orchestra, Peabody Symphony, Delaware Symphony, and the New Millenium Festival Orchestra in Spain. As a recitalist he has performed in such venues as the Kennedy Centers Terrace Theatre, and Strathmore Hall in Washington, DC, among others.
Eric has been fortunate enough to work with numerous celebrated musical talents including John Perry, Gary Graffman, Lang Lang, Jerome Lowenthal, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Claude Franck, Leif Ove Andsnes, Juilian Martin, Ellen Mack, Alexander Shtarkman among others. In the Spring of 2005, Eric graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance from the Peabody Conservatory where he studied for eight years with Boris Slutsky. Eric now attends the renowned Curtis Institute of Music where he is a Performance Diploma student with Leon Fleisher.
