As a young man, Delmar Brown was a shining star in Bloomington, Illinois where was a church pianist, organist, and choir member. The young Delmar admired and was influenced by the great jazz musicians including Jimmy Smith, Herbie Hancock, and Oscar Peterson. The gospel greats Mahalia Jackson, James Cleveland, and C.L. Franklin were his earliest vocal influences.

After studies at the Berklee College of Music, the training ground for some of today’s finest jazz musicians, Delmar went on to play and compose for some of the most influential musicians in the global industry including Gil Evans, Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, Jaco Pastroius and many others.

Delmar's travels and love of the music of the world brought him in contact with innovative pop musicians. Through the years he collaborated with notable figures such as Sting, Youssou N'Dour, and Peter Gabriel.

Today Delmar Brown fuses the smooth sound of jazz, earthiness of World Music, and high energy of pop music to drive the Delmar Brown World Pop Experience which mixes musical elements from the Caribbean to Eastern Europe. This music is truly unique reaching deep into the soul with a throbbing rhythm and a grounded sound which touches and uplifts. When you listen to the Delmar Brown World Pop Experience your being fills with good energy urging you to experience it over and over again!
