ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Masako Kunimoto, percussion, was born in Hyogo, Japan, in 1981.
When she was only 3 years old, she started to learn music. Masako began
studying marimba as a high school student. After she graduated from Osaka
college of Music in Japan, she worked at high schools and middle schools
as a teacher. She has performed with diverse ensembles, such as wind
orchestra, chamber groups, and as a freelance percussionist. She received a BM degree at Osaka College of Music and the Certificate in American
Contemporary Music from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Her teachers include Professor Tom Goldstein, Keiko Miyamoto, and Toru Kitano.
Ariana Lamon-Anderson, clarinet/bass clarinet, was born in Seattle,
Washington, in 1984. She earned her BM and MM degrees at the Peabody
Conservatory in 2007 under the tutelage of Edward Palanker, and the
Certificate in American Contemporary Music from the University of
Maryland, Baltimore County in 2008 under the tutelage of Dr. E.
Michael Richards. Currently Ms. Lamon-Anderson is a freelance musician and
woodwind instructor in the greater Baltimore and Washington, DC
area. In the fall she is planning to study with Dr. Anthony Burr to pursue
her DMA in Contemporary Performance at the University of California, San
Diego.
