UMBC NEW MUSIC ENSEMBLE

The New Music Ensemble of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County will be performing a diverse program of progressive modern music including works by Stuart Saunders Smith, Captain Beefheart, Carl Ruggles, Benjamin Britten, Christian Wolff, and R. Haubenstock-Ramati, as well as group improvisations. The ensemble has been in existence for over 30 years under the direction of composer Stuart Saunders Smith and artistic direction of Sylvia Smith. This is one of few undergraduate contemporary music ensembles, and includes talented student composers and performers.
