Chris Pumphrey
================
Chris Pumphrey lives in Baltimore with his daughter Nayev. He plays in the groups Il Culo and The Baltimore Afro-beat Society. Chris also studied composition with Stuart Saunders Smith.
Nathan Ellman-Bell
===================
Nathan Ellman-Bell lives in Baltimore and is an active member of Out of Your Head, an improvised music collective created by bassist Adam Hopkins and guitarist Matt Frazao. A recent graduate of the Peabody Conservatory, he is also a working member of Baltimore based groups Soul Cannon, Turn Around Norman, and Quartet Offensive. Nathan has a record out with Soul Cannon and is celebrating the release of the debut Quartet Offensive album. In the Summer, Nathan plans to record with Turn Around Norman. Nathan has had also the opportunity to work with musicians as Michael Formanek, Ingrid Jenson, Uri Cane, and Gary Thomas.
Zachary Swanson
===============
Zach Swanson is a bassist from New England. Introduced to many different types of creative music at an early age, he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his favorites combining many influences and concepts introduced to him by his studies. He has been fortunate to work with and learn from many original artists such as Tim Berne, Michael Formanek, Uri Caine, Mario Pavone, John Abercrombie and Gary Thomas. He is currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Jazz Bass Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University.
Calvin Tullos
=============
Calvin Tullos has lived in Baltimore for the past 25 years. He is originally from southern Louisiana
where he picked up saxophone at an early age. Although educated in physics, Calvin has studied with
David Murray and Gary Thomas. While in Louisiana, there were numerous Cajun, R&B, Blues, and Jazz-standards groups, but a strong influence of free-jazz as well. Baltimore presented opportunities such as
The Almighty Senators, Mofofunka, The Baltimore Afro-beat Society, and Funk Master General; amongst others. His day gig is on the Hubble Space Telescope project for NASA and evenings roaming Baltimore's streets looking for music.
