Baltimore-born award-winning composer produces new Baltimorean Jazz/Pop artist

Ellika Music Company steps into a new direction and produces a CD entitled What I Feel performed by Baltimore’s rising Jazz/Pop artist, Ha’na, to be world-premiered here in Baltimore at An die Musik, 409 N. Charles Street, 2nd Floor, Baltimore, MD 21201 on Sunday, July 11th 2010 from 2pm to 4pm. What I Feel contains 11 selections, written by the songwriting team of Diana Wharton Sennaar and her daughter Jaara Sennaar. All tickets must be purchased in advanced; no tickets will be available at the door. Ticket price is $30 which includes the CD and concert. Ten-percent discounts are available for groups seven or greater (i.e. churches, mosques, civic organizations, etc…).

Diana, a Howard University Alumnus, enjoys the following career highlights: NEA in Jazz Composition, Guggenheim in Composition, Composer for the Original Broadway hit: For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow in Enuf, Original founding member of the female a capella Sweet Honey in the Rock, composer of the theme Getting to Know Me for the long-running PBS television program of the same name, and a Maryland State Arts Council Award recipient in music. Her work has been glowingly reviewed by the New York Times, Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, Downbeat Magazine and Essence Magazine.

What separates What I Feel from the rest is its fresh, young, unique sound with positive lyrics in an age where emphasis on lyric content is all too often little to none. Its Jazz/Pop flavor can effortlessly appeal to the ear complimented by Ha’na’s youthful yet sultry vocals. The album presents stirring and dynamic vocal and musical arrangements which surely catapult What I Feel into a class of its own. Please come and join us as we introduce Baltimore to the new sound of Jazz/Pop with What I Feel.
