Orlando Maurice Johnson is a Baltimore, Maryland native and has always had a great passion for music. Having been reared in a musically inclined household, he formed a deep rooted appreciation for many styles and genres of Music. For the past decade, he has sat in occasionally with bands up and down the East coast and has recorded with other artists.
He continues to study and experiment with new instruments...from woodwinds to percussion to strings,
His passion to grow and expand as an Artist has reinforced his undying Love for The Music.
BaBa L. Salaam Is a native of Camden South Carolina, he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland at the tender age of 5. He has traveled the world and lived in places such as New York City and India. During his stay in India, Mr. Salaam studied Percussion and Flute, which is where he became more aware of his Spiritual connection with his music. His musical roots are based in Gospel and Rhythm and Blues.
He has studied under the guidance of many that have been influential to his development as a creative artist, such as Professor William Cole at Dartmouth University, Baba A. Zirikote founder of AFRICAN ANCESTORS LIVING THEATER and Local Jazz great Warren Wolf.
His Musical influences are many, from John Coltrane to Benny Goodman, these musical influences have inspired him over the years to branch-out, even becoming one of the co-founding members of the Soul Shake Us band.
It was his connection to the Soul Shake Us band that fostered his relationship with Mr. Taylor, which has turned into a 20yr. partnership.
Mr. L. Salaam believes as a creative artist, it is his responsibility to use the knowledge that has been imparted to him over the years and to share that with others.
He believes that if a creative artist understands their responsibility as an artist their light will shine causing transformations in the lives of those that they touch. As he says "Here's to the up-lift," you can't help but love his Music.
Chris Taylor Is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and has studied Classical Guitar since 1981. Mentored by James Green and Herman Meyer, Mr. Taylor has defined and refined his style of Classical Guitar.
Mr. Taylor has collaborated with other Local Musicians such as Jackie Blake, Kevin Robinson, Vattel Cherry, Baba L. Salaam and a host of others.
Also is a learned student of Percussion and Composition Mr. Taylor has developed a unique and organic style of communication through percussion, however it was his musical relationship with Baba L. Salaam that took him into the world of Organic Styled Music.
Mr. Taylor is one of the co-founding members of the Soul Shake Us band and It was his connection with Soul Shake Us that created the collaborative partnership between him and Mr. Salaam, which has turned into a 20yr. partnership.
This 20 year partnership has been a glorious Musical Journey which has created a unique language reinforcing the musical transformation that has given birth to the Soundtracks of their Lives.
