A Valentine's Cabaret with Gia Mora!
Actor and vocalist Gia Mora brings her latest jazz cabaret LAUGH IT UP, FUNNY GIRL, featuring Charlie Barnett.
Featuring three new songs by Charlie Barnett plus little known gems by Johnny Mercer, Nellie McKay, and Chris Dimond/Michael Kooman.
Digital surveillance, online dating, and an iPod Shuffle of American songs come together in an outrageously fun evening of music and storytelling about love and life in the Internet age.
MEET THE ARTISTS
Gia Mora works as an actor, vocalist, and dancer across the United States. Past solo performances include headlining at Blues Alley, Germano’s Trattoria, Bethesda Theatre,and Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret. She is a three-time Helen Hayes Award nominee, and her recent musical theatre credits include the world premieres of Glimpses of the Moon,Cool Papa’s Party, Super Claudio Bros., and Knuffle Bunny (original cast recording). In Spring 2011, Miz Mora will appear in the world premiere of Liberty Smith at Ford’s Theatre. She released her first solo CD, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, recorded with Unified Jazz Ensemble, in December 2009.
Composer, arranger, producer, and instrumentalist Charlie Barnett has thrilled listeners around the world. He has arranged and produced pop and jazz records for countless artists, and he continues to proudly play with the eclectic band Chaise Lounge whose third album was released in 2010. Mr. Barnett’s scores have appeared in more than four hundred television and theatrical films, and his work in documentaries has garnered awards including the Cine Golden Eagle and two Emmy nominations. Mr. Barnett has also written music for Saturday Night Live, The Cosby Show, Third Rock from thr Sun and Weeds.
