Andrea Ceccomori and Elitza Harbova
The Baltimore Composers Forum is pleased to announce 2010-2011 Artist-in-Residence Andrea Ceccomori. A recent call for scores gave Sig. Ceccomori the opportunity to select an exciting program of all new works for flute. The concert will be held at An die Musik in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday, March 5. Sig. Ceccomori along with pianist Elitza Harbova, will perform works by composers: Garth Baxter, Rose Bridges, Jin-Hwa Choi, Ian Hockett, Ljiljana Jovanovic, William Milner, Vivian Adelberg Rudow, and Ariyo Shahry. Judah Adashi, Peabody Institute faculty member and director of the Evolution Contemporary Music Series, will lead a discussion with the artists before the concert. The evening will conclude with a wine reception.

Andrea Ceccomori earned a degree in flute performance at the Morlacchi Music Conservatory in Perugia (Italy). He pursued further studies with Severino Gazzelloni at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena (Italy), as well as with Mario Ancillotti, Angelo Persichilli, Maxence Larrieu, Roberto Fabbriciani, Markus Stockhausen, and Louis Andriessen.
Mr. Ceccomori performs both classical and contemporary music. He has appeared at national and international festivals such as Spazio Musica in Cagliari (Italy), Nuova Consonanza and Musica Verticale in Rome, and Biennale of Contemporary Music in Zagreb (Croatia). He was a prizewinner for contemporary music at the Stresa International Competition (1988). He has performed in cities throughout Europe, including Darmstadt, Paris, Stockholm, Prague, Sofia, Gent (The Logos Foundation), Helsinki (The Sibelius Academy), Vatican City (Concert for Peace), Toronto (Roy Thomson Hall), Munich (Gasteig), as well as in Spain, Africa, and Brazil. In the United States, Mr. Ceccomori has appeared as guest performer in New York, Connecticut, Florida, Colorado, Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky, Missouri, Michigan, and now Maryland.
Mr. Ceccomori can be heard on Amiata Records, BMG/Ricordi, Edipan, and Rara/Rai Trade labels. He has been a frequent performer on radio and television in Italy. He is also involved with the Rai Trade & Cemat & SIMC/ISCM project for the promotion of contemporary Italian music. His articles are published in Falaut and Syrinx magazines. Dasi Flute published his new method book, Flute Today in 2010.
Elitza Harbova is a pianist of great experience with unique qualities. She has the great ability to communicate the conceptual content of contemporary compositions. Thanks to her talents, she has been commissioned to premier numerous compositions. Ms. Harbova studied piano under Maestros Margarita Krasteva, Pier Alberto Biondi, and chamber music under Vassil Kazandjiev.
Ms. Harbova has an exceptionally busy performing schedule as a soloist and with chamber music ensembles. She has participated in numerous Music Festivals, including: Autumne Musical (France); Cantiere Musica (Italy); PPianissimo (Bulgaria); Nuovi spazi musicali (Italy); Sofijsko liato (Bulgaria); and Sound and Relation-Days of New Music. She has also performed in prestigious concert halls around the world, such as the National Palace of Culture (chamber music hall) (Sofia, Bulgaria); Protomoteca Hall - Campidoglio, Hungarian Institute, National Museum of Musical Instruments, Flaiano Theatre, Auditorium Parco della Musica (Rome, Italy); Marshall Hall (Philadelphia, USA), and Steinway Gallery (Miami, USA). In 2007 Ms. Harbova performed in a concert organized by the Long Island Composer Alliance (LICA) in New York much like the one that she is participating in with the Baltimore Composers Forum.
Ms. Harbova has been a member of the SIMC (Società Italiana di Musica Contemporanea [Italian Contemporary Music Society]) since 2007.
Elitza has recorded numerous productions for the UBC, VDM Records, and L.P.Records.
She also recorded for the National Bulgarian Radio and Television broadcast, the Japanese Television NHK, and the Italian Radio Rai Tre and Filodiffusione, Radio Vaticana, and the Holland Radio Concertzender. Ms. Harbova has collaborated with the publishing company Rai Trade since 2005.
