Adam “Red Sammy” Trice:

In 2005, local Baltimore songwriter, Adam Trice, founded Red Sammy, which he describes as a “graveyard-country-rock band." The band name, a reference to Flannery O'Connor's 1955 short story, "A Good Man is Hard To Find," suggests the band's stark storytelling and gritty music, part southwest-rock, part Cash and Escovedo. The Big Takeover described the band's debut album, “Dog Hang Low," as “finely honed, melancholy roots-rock. Trice’s raspy baritone rides herd on quiet, ambling country rock, creating the perfect dusky atmosphere for the brooding tunes." Trice, an MFA graduate from the University of Baltimore, has also published a book of poetry, “In Places with Bad Lighting."

Tony Denikos:

Tony Denikos’ most recent release, 2009’s “Already Gone," boasts 11 originals that blend personal storytelling and foot-stomping backbeats in a manner that reflects the influence of everyone from John Fogerty to John Prine, from Lowell George to Graham Parker. The album charted at #2 on the Euro Americana Charts and at #7 on the Freeform American Roots Chart. Backing up Denikos was world-class cast of players, including drummer Timm Beiry (Nils Lofgren, Danny Gatton); bassists Dave Roe (Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam) and Dave Jacques (John Prine, Emmylou Harris); keyboardist Phil Madeira (Emmylou Harris); and, guitarists Gantt Kushner and Warner E. Hodges (Jason and the Scorchers).
