ENSEMBLE DESCRIPTION:

I.R.I.S. is Andrea Parkins, Hans Tammen, Edward Perraud, and DIdier Petit: sonic innovators who each have explored a wide and deep range of approaches to composition and improvisation in contexts ranging from avant-jazz to chamber music to improvised electro-acoustic music.

The band's electic instrumentation -- electronically-processed accordion, laptop electronics, cello, voice, and hybridized guitar/software instrument -- creates possibilities for surprising timberal and dynamic orchestral realization; and the responsive interplay between musicians mines the unique and challenging strategies that each of these veteran improvisers has developed during their respective careers.

I.R.I.S. is currently touring in the US and recently completed a tour in France with support from the French American Cultural Exchange.
