Avi Wisnia, singer/songwriter
with opening act: Widad
Tickets: $10 in advance/$12 at the door
Award-winning singer/songwriter Avi Wisnia presents an eclectic mix of refreshingly original songs and inventive covers, finding inspiration in Brazilian bossa nova, acoustic American folk, 1950’s west-coast jazz, and contemporary pop. Think Ben Folds meets Norah Jones if they had a lovechild in Brazil.
Avi's clever lyrics give a knowing nod to his contemporaries, while his smooth vocals and deft piano skills assure you that this is truly something new. Avi has toured the country with his dynamic ensemble and his debut full-length album, Something New, performing in prestigious venues across the country – from The Kennedy Center in Washington DC to Yoshi’s Jazz House in San Francisco, even spending a month performing in Brazil. Avi has performed alongside artists such as The Roots, Ani DiFranco, and Maroon 5, and his music has been featured on TV and in featured films.

"Widad weaves folk, rock, rhythm and mysticism into a mixed up cup of spicy tea; a raspy voice that is sometime sweet as bubblegum & sometimes moody, growls thrown in for good measure, a big scoop of longing and pop sensible, Nashville songwriting. 'One hallmark of good songs is that they not only stand up to repeat listening, but that the listener finds something fresh, exciting or inspirational with each new hearing, and Widad's songs have that very magical quality.' -Butch Kara - KZGM - Pacifica Radio
