ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Lixia Li is considered a pianist with "unusual talent, incredible instinct, mature pianism and great artistic insights," by eminent artists Phillippe Entremont, John Perry and Jacob Lateiner. She has performed in masterclasses given by Leon Fleisher, Aldo Ciccolini, Francoise Thinat, Leslie Howard, Jerome Rose, Anthony di Bonaventura, Lee Kum Sing, Boris Petrushansky and Vladimir Shakin.

Ms. Li has performed actively as soloist and chamber musician in Hong Kong, China, Europe and the United States in various recital halls such as Cappella di Santa Chiara, Casalmaggoire, Italy, Hong Kong City Hall, Xinghai Concert Hall, Guang Zhou Friendship Art Center, North Kentucky University Greaves Concert Hall, University of Alabama Moody Music Concert Hall, , University of Cincinnati Corbett Auditorium, Seully Hall in Boston, W.M.P.Concert Hall in New York City, Leipzig Gohlis Chateau, Belgium Maison de Wavre, Prague Jan Deyl Conservatory, and Prague Villa Bertramka at Mozart Museum. She has been invited to participate and perform in various music festivals such as Casalmaggoire International Festival, Prague International Piano Masterclasses, Belguim International Piano Week, International Summer Music Academy in Leipzig, Amalfi Coast Music & Arts Festival, Brandywine Piano Institute at University of Pennsylvania, Grandin Festival in Cincinnati and International Keyboard Institute & Festival in New York.

Ms. Li earned her Bachelor degree and Master degree respectively at The Boston Conservatory and Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Dr. Jonathan Bass, Prof. Elizabeth Pridonoff and Eugene Pridonoff; and won the Piano Honors Competition and Chamber Music Honors Competition. She is currently studying with Prof. Boris Slutsky at the Peabody Institute of Music of John Hopkins University as Graduate Performance Diploma candidate. Ms. Li's competitive accolades include the “Young Artists Competition of the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra”, the “Concerto and Aria Competition of the Huxford Symphony” in 2002, and a semi-finalist in the Viardo International Piano Competition in 2007 and finalist and "Audience Favorite Award" in Seattle International Piano Competition in 2009 and finalist in the 5th "Mozart" International Piano Competition, in Italy in 2010.

Besides performing solo piano repertoire, Ms. Li also has abundant experience in chamber music and opera. She has studied chamber music with Karl Paulnack, Rhonda Rider, Marian Hahn, Alexander Shtarkman, Katherine Jacobson-Fleisher, Seth Knopp, James Tocco and Awadagin Pratt. She has taken part in opera production of Werther, L'elisir d'amore, L'incoronazione di Poppea and Barber of Seville in collaboration with Terry Lusk, Sylvia Plyler and Mark Gibson.

Pianist Hanchien Lee has established herself as a successful soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. Since her debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age sixteen, she has performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia, appearing at venues such as Steinway Hall in New York, Academy of Music, Kimmel Center in Philadelphia and Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, and has given recitals at the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Muhlenberg College Piano Series, Hillman Performing Arts Center, Texas International Piano Festival, Basilica San Pietro in Italy, Centro Cultural del Antiguo in Spain and Taipei Convention Center in Taiwan. She has appeared as soloist with the American Elite youth orchestra, Plainfield Symphony, Taiwan National Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Perugia and Poland’s Capella Cracovienses Chamber Orchestra.

Ms. Lee is the recipient of the prestigious Chi-Mei Scholarship and Clara Ascherfeld Award. She has won first prize at the Russel C. Wonderlic Piano Competition and top prizes at Heida Hermanns International Piano Competition and Yamaha Piano Competition. As a chamber musician, Ms. Lee has performed in many highly respected music festivals including Sarasota, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Prussia Cove International Music Seminar and Music Academy of the West. She is also a member of the prize-winning quartet that was winner of the Yale School of Music Chamber Music Competition and performed at Stony Brook University, Muhlenberg College and Montana University, where she also conducted a master class.

Hanchien Lee was accepted at the Curtis Institute of Music at age eleven where she studied with Claude Frank and Eleanor Sokoloff. Following graduation from Curtis, Ms. Lee continued her studies at Yale University with Claude Frank, earning both a Master’s degree and an Artists’ Diploma. She holds a doctoral degree at the Peabody Conservatory of John Hopkins University where she was under the tutelage of with Boris Slutsky. Ms. Lee has also studied with such esteemed pianists as Gary Graffman, Richard Goode, Jerome Lowenthal and Fou T’song. Chih-Le Chang, a native of Taipei, Taiwan, began studying the violin at the age of five. Mr. Chang’s primary teachers include Mr. Che-Nan Tseng and Mr. Keng-Yuen Tseng.

Mr. Chang has participated and won numerous prizes in various competitions, including the Kaohsiung County Music Competition and the National Music Competition in Taiwan. Mr. Chang served as the concertmaster in the Shin Yi Primary School Orchestra, the Kaohsiung Youth Symphony Orchestra, Lavender String Orchestra, and Bel Cantanti Opera Chamber Orchestra. During his musical journey, Mr. Chang has had the privilege of performing in master classes for world renowned violinists Dmitri Berlinsky and David Lukas. He has appeared on public TV to play in a master class for Mr. Keng-Yuen Tseng. He was invited to participate in SYarts Summer Music Festival, Taiwan (2005, 2006), Vianden International Music Festival (2009) and Euro Music Festival, Leipzig, Germany (2009). In addition to his solo studies, Mr. Chang has also participated in numerous chamber music competitions. His string quartet has won prizes in competitions such as the National Music Competition. He has studied chamber music with Seth Knopp, Alison Wells and Marian Hahn. Mr. Chang earned his Bachelor and Master degree from Peabody Institute of Music, Johns Hopkins University.
